Players experiencing performance slowdowns in Stardew Valley following the recent 1.6 update might find relief by removing hats from their in-game pets. Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the developer behind the popular farming simulator, acknowledged that pets wearing hats could be causing significant lag for some users.

In a recent communication, Barone suggested that equipping hats on pets is a potential source of the performance issues reported by players. As a temporary workaround, he advised players to unequip any hats from their animals until a permanent fix is implemented.

The 1.6 update introduced a host of new features and content, rejuvenating the game for long-time fans. However, the addition of new customization options, like hats for pets, seems to have inadvertently affected game performance for some. Barone assured the community that he is actively working on resolving the issue in an upcoming patch.
