Decibels

There seems to be a problem recently with the abundance of electro acts around; whilst the appreciation for the music may come with surplus, when going to a live show, unless you’re there for the pretty lights, the actual additional entertainment of it all leaves something to be desired a lot of the time. Alas, there are always the exceptions, and the plucky chaps from the midland’s, Decibels are one of them. Having received attention from the likes of BBC Introducing and Huw Stevens, they’ve slowly but surely been gaining the support that any sort of well-written application of talent should get. So what of the sound? Taking something along the lines of Hot Chip, but take away the house elements and chuck some breakbeat in with some extra pop for good measure and you’ve pretty much got it. Their manipulation of samples and synths in combination a guitar and an amalgamation of percussion means that their songs are effortlessly varied, going from latest single “The Lesser” demonstrating their pop side, to the more glitch-electro rock of some of their previous releases.
