Summary: Gameloft’s Asphalt racing series has enjoyed huge success on mobile phones (although less so on dedicated handheld consoles) so there’s reason to be optimistic about this despite there being higher profile racers such as Ridge Racer and Mario Kart already slated for 3DS. The prospect of six-player WiFi races and some 40 licensed cars, coupled with the graphical oomph under the 3DS hood, offers further cause for hope. Let’s hope there’s more considerably more content than the iPhone version of Asphalt 5, which is considerably cheaper than the 3DS title is likely to be.
Konami are publishing this, but they’ve not said when Asphalt 3D will be ready. Another near-3DS-launch game, we’d imagine.
