Here’s a way to avoid that last minute rush to find a Halloween costume and avoid paying a penny for it. Why not simply win some Minecraft costume loot? The Blog Roll: My Most Treasured Video Game Items

Being a collector of all things video games, I have amassed quite a selection. When discussing collecting with other collectors, I came to the realization that the most treasured things in my collection aren’t necessarily the rarest. Personal attachment to a item seemingly outweighs actual value and rarity, this got me wondering a few things. Does everyone who is into their video games have a treasured gaming related item? Figures, posters, special editions, pictures and all that jazz. After looking through various parts of my collection, I decided to focus on the items that meant the most to me, the ones I was most ‘proud’ to own. While going through this process, I also came across various bits and bobs that I wish I didn’t own, such as the Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel Edition. My most treasured items don’t include anything from any special editions from any modern games. This is mainly due to the terms ‘special’ and ‘limited’ loosing their meaning in the modern market. Art books are also something that I have in abundance, but don’t see as anything truly collectable. But there is one piece of video game art that I do truly treasure. The reason why I treasure this item so much is down to the links it has with one of favourite franchises in video game history. My signed art work of Arthas, aka The Lich King, from World of Warcraft is something I treasure. It’s a wonderful piece of art from a video game universe I adore. Sure it wont interest the majority of people, it’s subject will be lost on most, but I truly love it. Items like that picture is why I collect video game related memorabilia. If it’s something that displays the imagination of the video games, and the team behind it, then it’s something I enjoy owning. These elements can often be found the likes of statues, models and figures. While I don’t own a staggering amount of figures and the like, I do own a statue based on a franchise I hold very dear to my heart, as well as another statue based from Warcraft…again. Both of these statues display the visual themes of their respective franchises in such a effective manner. I like to think of them as art, in the same way as you’d enjoy a picture. The items I’ve talked about and showed in this piece are just examples of items I treasure in my collection. As a collector I’m always interested to see what video game related items (if any) they treasure, and why. Feel free to share your stories!

Fed up of cat videos? There’s always an exception… and perhaps it is a super powered cat with the powers of Scott Summers.

David Tennant and Billie Piper back for Doctor Who 50th

The last words of the Tenth Doctor were “I don’t want to go” and now he’ll be back. There’s a tradition with Doctor Who anniversary episodes that has two or more Doctors involved in the same plot line but it really was not clear whether this would happen for the 50th. Today, on the same [...]
